FACE LIFT

The negative effect of stress, gravity, smoking and sun reveal them as sagging and wrinkles on the human face with the age. Facial bones become thinner, volume loss occurs, muscles become weaker, adipose tissue become weaker, less and thinner with the time, and accordingly the skin on it becomes loose, wrinkled, inelastic and sags with all soft tissues.
In face lift surgery, the skin is incised on a line which starts from the lap just in front of the ear, turns around the earlobe and reaches from the back of the ear to the scalp in order to access to the whole face and neck. This mark begins in front of the ear and reaches to the scalp at the back, and it does not remain to an extent disturbing the patient after the surgery. In the classical face lift surgery, the skin and the subcutaneous adipose tissue are lifted together and separated from the muscular and connective tissue after skin incision. In this way, the muscular and connective tissue which is the hanging tissue of the face and provides the main resistance against gravity becomes completely visible. This tissue is lifted with permanent sutures which are placed deep and invisible externally and sags are eliminated. Then, the excessive amount is determined by lifting the skin backwards and upwards and it is ablated. Later, skin is stitched with suitable sutures and the operation is completed. During the same session, the irregularities on the neck area can be eliminated by applying liposuction on the neck.
Remember that this surgery does not eliminate all problems of aging. This surgery only makes the sagged skin tighter. It is not very effective for upper facial area. Benefit can be obtained for the upper facial area by combining it with endoscopic intervention.
